World Series of Birding 2026

World Series of Birding 2026

Have you heard of the World Series of Birding?

This competition, created by the New Jersey Audubon Society, is a race to see who can identify the greatest number of bird species in 24 hours (May 9th, 2026) throughout the great Garden State. Essex County Turtle Back Zoo is once again teaming up with our conservation partners at Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary. Team Birdin’ With Glorious Purpose are 2-time champions of the World Series of Birding!

You can be part of the action by donating! Turtle Back Zoo’s participation in the World Series of Birding is all about leading conservation efforts in Essex County. Not only is it fun to discover the species in our backyard and marvel at the biodiversity all around us, but donations will directly support North American songbird conservation efforts, and conservation is what the World Series is all about.
